An exciting announcement
We are very excited to announce that we are expanding our services, we are building out the Royal Mahal brand and are taking our food offering to the next level. Our team at Royal Mahal are opening an event and banqueting hall where we will offer in-house catering services from our talented chef’s who as a team we have over 20 years of experience cooking Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Our banqueting hall offers elegant decor which will be the perfect spot for any special occasion and is also large enough to accommodate up to 250 guests! Refurbishments are well underway and we will have further announcements in due course…
Royal Mahal services
As well as our takeaway services which have been feeding South London throughout lockdown, we now also offer outdoor dining in line with government restrictions! Our brand new seating area, available at the front of our restaurant for customers who wish to dine with us outside in the lovely sunshine is the perfect spot to enjoy our food for the time being! Our seating is perfect for iftar, the breaking the fast during Ramadan and the spaces have seen a flurry of people already since we launched last week.
We are operating outside dining between re-opening our restaurant full time again on the 17th May, and from then onwards we will have indoor and outdoor seating available, perfect for any occasion! We cannot wait to see all of our wonderful customers again during our launch week! Make sure to get your bookings in to sample the finest Indian and Pakistani food in Tooting, South London.
Combining History, Royal Mahal and the Classic building
We are so proud that our brand will be inheriting a building which owns so much history and heritage within Tooting and our community. The building used to be a cinema, and was the heart of local entertainment! With Royal Mahal taking over the legacy of the building for catering and events, we will of course continue delivering entertainment services. We will strive to make our banqueting hall the hub of socialising and enjoyment in Tooting! We will be preserving the rich history of the building and the events space will be available for community events and functions which the Classic club was known for.
The Cinema closed on the 21st March 1983 and the final film played was ‘Mad Max’ which had Mel Gibson headlining. Since then in its later years, it was used for sometimes screening Asian Bollywood films on Sunday mornings and afternoons to the public. The Classic building owned a neon display which was referred to as ‘spectacular’ by the public of Tooting, and we want to align spectacular in our ethos and have a huge focus on serving spectacular evenings for the public of London. The space was also used for a nightclub event space too, so the building has seen a lot of faces and a lot of good times!
Counting our blessings
All of this excitement for Royal Mahal has been announced during Ramadan, which is a sacred and holy time for all Muslims involved. We are counting our blessings after an extremely difficult year last year. We are so thankful that our beloved restaurant, brand and staff continued to operate and pull through testing times. And we will continue to bring each of our customers fulfillment through food and special moments.
2021 is set to be a huge year for our business and we cannot wait to serve you on our journey of bringing the best Indian and Pakistani food to South London in person, with our takeaway services and now as well, from our event spaces.
We want to thank all of our customers for your support and continued commitment to the Royal Mahal brand. We will see you very soon!
The RM team.
